These last few days have been grueling. We had to get every last little thing out of our apartment in Portage and down to Ft. Wayne. As I type we’re finishing cleaning the apartment and praying that everything fits into mine and Mitch’s cars to get them over to some friends’ house who graciously offered to let me park my car there while we’re away.
I never thought that I would look forward to a 13ish hour drive as much as I am. You see, driving is kind of what Mitch and I do. We didn’t live in the same town until two weeks before our wedding. For a good chunk of time we were 5 hours apart and another chunk we were 4 hours apart. So, we have the driving thing down. On top of that, I’ve found that driving is when I can clear my head and as crazy as it sounds I get some of my most creative thoughts on long road trips. I’m looking forward to kicking back and relaxing for half of the drive and really just can’t wait to get back to Colorado and see everyone.
Tomorrow could be an interesting trip for little RC though. His 5 hour trips to and from Ft. Wayne have been breezes and he is pretty much a pro. However, a trip 3 times that long might be interesting. On top of that he had his manhood taken away today. Why did we do it so close to the drive? Well every other animal we’ve had that has gotten fixed has always been groggy and out of it for a couple of days. So we figured that he’d at least sleep most of the way. WRONG! He is currently being a crazy cat sprinting all over the house and attacking my hands while I type. Something tells me this cat doesn’t know the meaning of groggy. We shall see…
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and eats lots of turkey!

I know there are a few of you who have been checking back to see a concrete Christmas Mini Session post. Well, December 06 I will have six sessions available in Sterling. The session times are 7,8, and 9 a.m. and 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes long and the location will be tailored specifically to you. Times will be booked on a first come, first serve basis. I am throwing around the idea of doing some December 01 in the Sedgwick, Ovid, and Julesburg area. If you are interested in one of those just follow the directions below.

To view specifics on the sessions click on the image above to download a pdf that goes over all of them!
I am calling these Christmas Mini Sessions, but have no plans to put anyone in front of a Christmas tree or anything seasonal. I understand and hope that these are images that you would want hung year round in your home. However, if you want something seasonal, I’m sure we can hunt it down!
These images will be available in the client section of my website to order off of no later than December 11. Any orders placed by 11:59 p.m. December 14 are guaranteed to be back no later than Christmas Eve without rush charges. Orders with cards in them will be bumped to the front of the line due to the nature of the product.
These shorter sessions might not be for everyone. If you are wanting unlimited time think about booking one of my regular sessions while I am in Colorado, November 29 through December 19 (some dates are already booked). For one of those price guides email me at anna@annalynchmcclary.com.
Now, if you’re ready to book a mini head over to www.annalynchmcclary.com and click on the client section. Enter the password ‘christmasmini’. That will bring up the same image as above, add it to your cart, then click on the cart icon in the bottom right corner, and then from the drop down menu select the only option. Simply fill out your info as you go. However, for tonight just select ’send order and arrange payment later’. I will email everyone tomorrow that books the session. I will go in order of emails received and give you the opportunity to select your time slot. From there I will send you an invoice for the session retainer, which needs to be finalized by Monday to reserve your spot.
If you have any questions feel free to email me (I am without a phone until Saturday). I am stepping away for the evening, but will get back to you right away tomorrow. If your question will affect whether you book or not, go ahead and book, and if you change your mind after I answer your question, no problem.
Wow, didn’t think I’d ever say this before Thanksgiving, but Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I love my lab’s card options. Last year I had an option for my clients to pay for a card design and I would send them the file and they could print them wherever they wanted. However, when those cards starting showing up in my mail box the nit-picker in me found a flaw with that plan. I noticed that all of the prints were much darker than my designs. I tested them all out with both of my labs and without any color correction they came back fine. So I then experimented and sent them to one of the box stores to see what I would get. I got a dark print. I asked the worker at the counter and they said that it must have been a really dark print because their machines try to make images look their best. Thing is, the machine didn’t need to do anything.
So, knowing that the economy is looking down this year and knowing that I don’t want you all sending out dark, muddy prints I am doing a limited time sale to help us both out. Get beautiful custom made Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, Festivus, New Year’s cards, birth announcements or anything else that you need a card for, at more than half off my regular prices! This is going to run from today (November 13) through November 30. Anyone who had a session with me is eligible. Also, anyone who books a session before December 01 can lock in these sale prices.

There are quite a few card options as far as sizes and folds go. For the design itself, you will be the only one of my clients with that specific one. Once your order is placed, I will work up the design, link you to a first round proof, and from there you can make one round of revisions (if you want). From that point it takes 4-5 business days to have the cards ready to roll into your hands.
So, sit down and make your card list. Once you know how many you will need drop me a line. I will get an invoice drawn up and once you place a 50% deposit you are locked in for the Turkey Day Card Sale pricing. Or, if you haven’t had your session yet, drop me a line and we’ll get the ball rolling!

I know you all probably thought that I fell the side of the Earth, but really I’ve just been busy with photos, orders, and of course the never ending process of moving. I also finally got my husband to set a date in stone for our trip back so that I could go ahead with the mini sessions. So, today will be a triple blog post day! Check back at 7:30 p.m. EST for info on the card sale and then at 8:30 p.m. EST for info on the Christmas Mini Sessions.
Now, since I’ve been around photography I’ve enjoyed scrapbooking (although not as much as I should). I’ve also noticed that there aren’t really many options for someone wanting to scrapbook more than a couple of professional images. The beautiful coffee table books I carry are a great solution for the digital scrappers, but for those of you that love the three dimensional traditional scrapbooking, the options are kind of slim. I’ve tried to come up with a solution for all of the scrappers out there that enables me to get you affordable images to scrapbook, but let’s me still do some quality control as far as the prints go.
So, why don’t I just give you the printing rights and then you can print and scrapbook away? Well, I really hate seeing my images printed by Wal-Mart, Walgreens and the majority of the online and consumer options. I know that sounds a little snooty, but hear me out. I spend a lot of time color correcting your images and when Wal-Mart’s printers decide to “optimize” those images they never look like they went in. I can’t tell you how many dark images and wacky colors I’ve seen come out of those consumer places, when the file that went in looked nothing like that. If my name is tied to it, I want to make sure that you get great quality products.
Thus…

So, a little bit of a compromise has to go on as you see. The solution that I’ve come up with I hope encourages my family, children, and senior customers to get your desk and wall portraits and then rewards you by opening an option that I’m calling a ‘Scrapper’s Order’. When you place a $350 print order you are eligible to order 50 different 4×6’s for $50. Once your order of $350 or more is placed I will email you a link to purchase the Scrapper’s Order. From there you simply email me the 50 different image numbers that you want.
These are proof quality prints. That simply means that no further retouching will go into them and that they are printed on a different paper than the desk and wall portraits. These prints are intended for scrapbooking, not framing. The color will be as intended and they are still high archival quality. If you want any retouching done, you’ll have to go the traditional route and order the lustre or metallic prints at regular price (all retouching is included in my traditional print prices). However, if your order reaches $750 I will do light retouching on all 50. Taking it one step further, if your order hits $1,000 I will include a lightly retouched Scrapper’s Order for $20.
I know that this won’t solve everyone’s problems, but I hope it is at least a compromise that will help out those of you that want to show off your families and children through your artistic outlet.
For anyone who has placed an order over the years, if you’re interested in placing a Scrapper’s Order just shoot me an email at anna@annalynchmcclary.com and I’ll post up your gallery along with the link.
See you in a little bit!

I’m sure you’re thinking, “Well duh!” But, really I have a job that allows me to give people something that they can hold onto forever. Moments, minutes, hours, days, months, they fly by. Photographs give you just enough to hold onto to really take you back. These images are of one of my absolute best friends in the world. She will never be pregnant with this little boy again, but I was given the chance to freeze one evening that she was. I can give her these to hold onto, when he is our age I’m sure that they will put a smile on her face.

This is Bri. This picture is exactly what comes to mind when I think of Bri. I have laughed more times than I can remember with Bri and it will never get old!

It could have something to do with my subject, but this is one of my all time favorite images that I have done.

Is it hardly fair that at almost nine months pregnant Bri can still wear her pre-pregnancy jeans? I sometimes have a hard time after a big meal, much less a little boy.

One of Bri’s requested shots, with a little of my flavor!

Thank you so much Bri for letting me take these pictures. I absolutely can’t wait to meet him. Oh and if you could keep him in until I’m in Colorado, that would be great! Ha, only joking!

Oh, and a proud moment for me. I usually really stink at the measuring game at baby showers. Well, I was really close on this one, closer than Brooke anyway!
I miss you girls tons!
