Late last night we decided to get in the Halloween spirit and hang up some pumpkin lights and carve a couple pumpkins. We still have one more to do, but I’m not holding my breath on it getting done. R.C. did get a pretty awesome Halloween costume, but I just realized that I don’t have those shots with me.
Just so you know, these are just off of the point and shoot, so the quality isn’t as good, it was too late to unpack the big one.

R.C. was infatuated with the pumpkins. He even crawled in a couple times to scope them out.

Mitch is more than just a pretty face on a lawnmower… yes, he is a pretty face with some pumpkin carving skills too.

In case you’re wondering, his pumpkin is the baseball team’s new name and logo, the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

The sad thing, it took me longer to carve my kitty pumpkin than it took Mitch to do all of his fancy work.

When R.C. chose though, he picked mine! At least I’m going to keep thinking that!
Happy Halloween!

I did pictures of P. when he was almost two and I remember getting quite the workout then. Apparently when you’re four years old you have an endless amount of energy and a pretty awesome imagination. We hunted monsters, tickled mommy, and if I remember right we even found some porcupines. I also slept very well that night!

P and my niece are buddies, so I kind of feel like I’ve grown up with him. It is so hard to believe that they are four already!

The amount of different expressions that I saw while editing these pictures cracked me up, personality is not lacking here!

Surprisingly enough, there were only a couple somber shots though. What a handsome guy, huh?

This was somewhere in the middle of the monster hunt. Melinda (his mom) and I were getting pretty good at fitting through the tiny spots in this little “forest” by the end of it.

There was zero hesitation when I asked him to tickle his mommy.

This shot just screams, “I’m sweet and innocent, I never upset my mommy!”

Thanks so much guys, I hope the birthday party was loads of fun!

Nancy and I had been working on getting a date set since I did pictures of her nephew Ethan back in April and we finally had the perfect Octber day. We had been worried about the weather, but when I pulled up a couple hours early (I always like to scout out where I’m shooting) to Cherry Creek State Park it was beautiful! I’m talking no wind, 70 degrees, perfect cloud cover, and on top of that the changing Colorado trees. Really, does it get better than that?
We ended up kicking off the family shoot about an hour earlier than we had planned, and boy did that end up being a good thing! I had all of these great locations scouted out and we had hit a couple of them when out of nowhere the wind kicked up like crazy and it started spitting on us. This wind wasn’t a nice breeze that we could work with, so we had to call the shoot. Of course we got some great shots first, but how couldn’t you with three beautiful girls and a mom and dad that weren’t too bad either! We’ll just have to save the lake and beach shots for next time.

See what I mean about the perfect day and colors?

It cracked me up how different all three of the girls’ personalities were. Their jumping shot shows it perfectly!

However, I think that this one just shows it a little bit better. Funny how their individuality comes through without even seeing their faces.

By this time it had started to cool down and we knew that our time was limited.

So, instead of running to the next spot, why not skip?!

I’m quite positive that they were probably fighting to keep their eyes open between the wind and rain at this point, but they held strong and you couldn’t even tell!
Thanks again Steve, Nancy, and girls, I had a great time and thanks for putting up with my lame jokes!
Tomorrow pictures of a new 4 year old!

I’ve gotten so used to shooting families, kids, seniors, and weddings lately that I almost forgot what it was like to shoot anything else. During my last trip back my friend Jaci got ahold of me to take some shots of the Northeastern Junior College Art Department. I covered their graphics program, theatre department, and music department for some promo pieces.
I had an absolute blast moving out of what had become my comfort zone back into providing some art for artists!
First up was the theatre department…

Then we moved onto graphics…

And finished up with music…

Of course I had to get a few traditional headshots too!

Later this week I have some images of a beautiful family to share!

I love a good sale! I especially love a sale when it comes when I need something and not after I needed it. By the end of the week I’m going to have some fabulous deals for my custom made Christmas cards. Did you have a session with me this year? I’ll use as many of those images as you want.
A couple weeks back I brought up Christmas Mini Sessions. I still don’t have an exact date worked out. I’m going to be back in Colorado for a month! That’s right, from Thanksgiving to Christmas I’m going to be in Colorado. These are going to be shorter sessions than usual, but they are perfect for Christmas card pictures. Some of the packages available will even have cards built in. Mitch and I will have our schedules finalized this week. So, basically this post was a teaser, but I had to get it out there!
Also, if there is enough demand for the Christmas Mini Sessions in Indiana I will gladly throw a day in out here. Just shoot me an email at anna@annalynchmcclary.com if you’re interested in more info and you live in Indiana (or the Chicago area).
Just as a sidenote we’re heading out for Ft. Wayne bright and early tomorrow. I’ll make a trip to get internet at some point tomorrow evening. At that time I’ll also have some nice shots to post up from a session that I did for Northeastern Junior College’s Art Department (NJC) in Sterling.

Do you have a bunch of blogs and sites that you check constantly to see when they are updated? Or, do you just have a couple of sites that you can’t wait to see updated? I fall in the first group. I have loads of blogs, most of them photography related, that I love to follow. I used to daily hop online, go to my bookmarks and one by one go to each site, only to see they hadn’t been updated. So then, later that evening I’d go back and hope for an update. Now, I just add their web addy to my Google Reader once and it automatically pulls it up when it has been updated. I can’t tell you how much time this has saved me! You can also add your news sites to it.
In order to get a G. Reader set up for yourself go here and enter your Google name. If you don’t have one, there is a link on that same page to get one. Once you’re signed up on the left is anĀ “Add Subscription” link. Just click on it and copy and paste your web address you want to follow in there and click add.

From there on out everytime that the blog or site you entered is updated it will highlight it. I have mine set to only show updated blogs/sites. As your scroll through it will mark it as read and take it off your list. Pretty simple huh? Don’t forget to add http://annalynchmcclary.wordpress.com
.
I also added a few of my favorite blogs on the right side here. Most of them are photography blogs, but there are a few others.

I’m trying to get back into the habit of shooting for myself. It is so easy to only pick up my camera when I have a session, but where is the fun in that?! Not only that, but shooting a little for myself greatly helps out on the creative side all around.
So, who better to be my subject than RC?

This is sweet and innocent, I could never hurt a fly RC.

This is cover your feet and hide your hands because it is hunting time, RC.

We’ve accepted that fact that it is impossible to walk around the bed without feeling like bait. It is pretty funny to watch his little paws jut out from under the bed skirt searching for your feet, at least until he catches said feet.
Thanks for humoring a few shots of our cutie kitty!

When I was younger I could sit and read a good book all day and be completely happy. As you can guess, life has gotten in the way of that little hobby. In fact, now I pretty much only read on car rides or on the airplane between Colorado and here.
Because of the lack of reading lately, it had been quite awhile since I had been at a library. Boy, oh boy did I rediscover it yesterday. Not only can I take my laptop down there to use the internet (I’m back in Portage now, so not at the library), but I can check out the books I’ve been meaning to read and maybe even read a little. The Allen County Library also has an awesome collection of DVD’s and CD’s, and even a few Wii games. Mitch and I have been wanting to rent or buy the seasons of Lost, since we keep hearing how awesome of a show it is. Well, they had it at the library. The best part, it is all free! I mean, I knew that it was, but since it had been so long, I forgot how great that little tid-bit of info was.
The best part of my library trip yesterday, they had a set of 8 DVD’s from Strobist (a lighting blog that I love). I had been wanting to check these DVD’s out for quite some time now, with moving though, the money just wasn’t there. So, you can imagine how excited I was to find them on the shelf yesterday to rent for 3 weeks! Yes, I am happy.
Oh, and a true shocker for anyone that knows Mitch. He willingly came into the library, that alone is big news. I do think that my excitement over the multimedia section had a lot to do with that though. You can imagine my complete amazement though, when at the checkout counter he had a stack of books (they weren’t even picture books, I checked). They were all about grass, but I was impressed nonetheless.
Nothing like a little free fun!

It seem like lately we’ve been living split lives, mostly because we kind of are. Through the end of next month Mitch will be working at both the field in Ft. Wayne and the field in Gary. Which of course means lots of driving (it is about a 2.5 hour drive). Don’t worry about us though, driving is what we do. We are even getting R.C. conditioned to enjoy it.
The thing that has been a little frustrating for me is not having internet at our Ft. Wayne apartment. It makes checking email, updating my blog, and continuing to work on my website a little tough. This is why this post is coming to you from the beautiful Allen County Public Library. Apparently it just finished a few years worth of heavy duty remodeling. Let me tell you, it is a beautiful library!
The other thing that has made life interesting is the time changes. Last Wednesday I was on Colorado time, hopped on a plane, lost two hours, was back in Eastern time (I flew into Indianapolis), drove an hour and a half northeast, and was in Central time, and have since gone back and forth from Central to Eastern four more times. I’m quite positive my body has lost its sense of time completely.
Well, I had better get back to my stack of emails before my time is up. Expect some new pictures from me in my next post!
